Let me be very clear.
If I ever had to scroll through Facebook, mine data, or research someone’s digital footprint in order to give a “word of knowledge,” I would be completely horrified!
Not mildly concerned.
Not uncomfortable.
Horrified.
Because at that point, we’re no longer talking about prophecy. We’re talking about performance.
And performance dressed up as revelation is dangerous.
The prophetic is not powered by:
Algorithms
Browser history
Search bars
Data mining
Or “insight” gathered from someone’s online life
Prophecy flows from the Holy Spirit and is anchored in the Word of God.
Full stop.
If the Holy Spirit needs my phone to speak, then something is deeply off.
Jesus didn’t say, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every post he scrolls past.”
He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
Somewhere along the way, we started treating the basics of prophecy as optional.
They are not.
The foundation of prophetic ministry is:
Knowing the Word of God
Spending time in the presence of God
Developing intimacy with God
Learning discernment, not deduction
Letting God speak, not filling in gaps ourselves
The Word of God is not a backup plan.
It is the primary source.
And here’s the truth many don’t want to hear:
If you are truly submitted to the Word and the Spirit, you don’t need tricks to sound accurate.
Something can sound accurate and still be spiritually wrong.
Discernment isn’t impressed by results alone.
Discernment looks at source.
If the source is not the Holy Spirit, then no amount of accuracy can sanctify the method.
This is why Scripture warns us to:
Test the spirits
Judge prophecy
Examine fruit over time
Not because God is silent, but because counterfeits exist.
God has always honored obedience, not shortcuts.
When we do our part:
Study the Word
Pray
Stay consecrated
Remain accountable
Walk in humility
God does His part.
He speaks.
He reveals.
He confirms.
He illuminates.
We don’t need to help Him out.
And we certainly don’t need to fake the funk and call it an anointing.
I’m not impressed by prophetic theatrics.
I’m moved by prophetic integrity.
I want prophets who know the Word.
Who fear God.
Who tremble at His voice.
Who would rather say “I don’t have a word” than manufacture one.
If I ever find myself needing to scroll to prophesy, I’ll gladly step down before I step out of order.
Because the Holy Spirit doesn’t need Wi-Fi.
He reveals secrets to those who walk with Him.
